The Me Too movement within Hollywood has been a testament to feminism and the elimination of sexual misconduct by men of power against their female cohorts. Most recently, Aziz Ansari has come under fire for alleged misconduct against a women that he had gone on a date with. The woman reported that Aziz had repeatedly suggested she have sexual relations with him, too her refusal, until she resigned and capitulated to his advances. This comes as especially troublesome in the feminist community seeming as though Ansari has been introduced and acknowledged within the feminist community as an ally, not a perpetrator. His shows and content portray a feminist sympathizer and a champion for women's rights, a far cry from the reports now surfacing against him. I believe that this proves relevant, especially as we are study feminist theatre. The Me Too Movement has ultimately been a revelatory movement in its successes (the Exposure of Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and their '"dis-endorsement") , shedding light on issues previously avoided by Hollywood, or unacknowledged.
